SSS Partners with Landis+Gyr to Upgrade MVEA's AMI Infrastructure

We are thrilled to announce our latest collaboration with Landis+Gyr Technology, Inc., focused on enhancing the Advanced Meter Infrastructure (AMI) for Mountain View Electric Association (MVEA). This project is designed to significantly improve network efficiency and infrastructure reliability, showcasing our ongoing commitment to providing cutting-edge solutions for our valued utility partners.

The project highlights our ability to manage complex infrastructure improvements and support the delivery of advanced metering technology, which is essential to meeting the evolving needs of modern utilities.

Project Scope for MVEA:

  • New Network Pedestal Installation: 22 new sites will be outfitted with network pedestals to improve the overall system architecture and operational efficiency.
  • New Pole Installation: 17 new poles will be installed at designated locations to support the expanded AMI network.
  • Existing Pole Makeready Work: 20 existing sites will undergo pole makeready work, including the sourcing and storage of three wooden poles to facilitate upgrades.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Landis+Gyr Technology, Inc.: Landis+Gyr will deliver and install the specified AMI solution components, ensuring seamless integration with MVEA’s existing infrastructure. Their expertise in AMI technology will be central to the project’s success.
  • Second Sight Systems (SSS): SSS will be responsible for performing makeready work for both new and existing poles and pedestals. In addition, we will oversee all electric hookups through certified third-party contractors, coordinate permit submissions with the Pikes Peak Regional Building Department, and schedule necessary inspections to ensure compliance with local regulations.

This project is expected to be underway soon, with an estimated completion time of approximately one month. As the utility landscape continues to evolve, this initiative represents a significant step toward leveraging advanced technology to improve utility management, ensuring a robust, efficient, and future-ready network for MVEA and its customers.

Looking Ahead

Second Sight Systems is proud to partner with Landis+Gyr on this critical project and support MVEA in enhancing their infrastructure with advanced AMI technology. Our team is excited to contribute to the future of utility management through high-quality infrastructure solutions and expert project management. Stay tuned for further updates on this exciting development!
