# SSS to Begin Telecom Infrastructure Upgrade at Ameren’s Fishhook, IL Location

We are excited to announce a critical infrastructure upgrade project for Ameren at their Fishhook, IL location. This initiative is vital to enhancing the reliability and efficiency of Ameren’s communications network, ensuring stable wired and wireless communications for their substations, offices, and gas sites, while also supporting their P25 system in Missouri. The project will introduce a modernized facility, enabling Ameren to maintain superior communication capabilities across their service areas.
The Fishhook project highlights Second Sight Systems' dedication to delivering comprehensive infrastructure solutions that enhance operational efficiency and ensure long-term reliability for our utility partners.
**Project Overview: Fishhook, IL**
- **New Building Installation**: The current structure will be replaced with a refurbished 12x24 combination building, designed to improve both space utilization and operational performance.
- **Generator Installation**: A new 30kW generator will be installed, ensuring continuous power supply during outages and enhancing system reliability.
- **Concrete Pad Foundation**: A new concrete foundation will be poured to support the structure and prevent moisture intrusion, extending the longevity of the facility.
- **Permitting and Service Upgrades**: Necessary permits will be secured, and the electric service will be upgraded to 200A to meet the power needs of the new infrastructure. All electrical and propane connections will be updated to support the new systems.
- **Grounding and Cabling Improvements**: The ground ring will be extended, and existing coaxial cables and elliptical waveguides will be replaced. System levels will be thoroughly tested to ensure optimal performance for Ameren’s communications network.
- **Shelter Demolition and Removal**: The outdated shelter and generator will be safely removed, and existing communication and power lines will be relocated as part of the site upgrade.
- **Equipment Transfer**: Our team will work closely with Ameren to move their existing telecom equipment into the new shelter, ensuring a smooth and efficient transition.
This project is designed to provide Ameren with a state-of-the-art telecom facility that will significantly enhance the efficiency and reliability of their communication network. By modernizing the Fishhook, IL site, we are supporting Ameren in their mission to maintain top-tier communications infrastructure for their operations across Illinois and Missouri.
